Oral hygiene is the cornerstone of modern preventive dentistry. Most dental and gum disorders arise as a result of the accumulation of bacteria on the surface of the teeth.
We work closely with our dental hygienist to deliver a personalised prevention programme for you, so that we can be sure you are receiving the best possible oral healthcare.
We will show you how to take care of your mouth properly and advise you on the best products to use in your daily routine.
Even though they’re generally invisible, biofilm and tartar cause chronic inflammation of your gums. This, in turn, can lead to bone loss between the teeth and the development of sensitive teeth. Our dental hygienist uses the latest equipment to clean, polish and brighten your teeth. Your mouth is left feeling clean and fresh – conditions that we encourage you to maintain.
Are your teeth and gums really sensitive but you’re worried about the descaling process? This could be one of the warning signs, so it’s important to determine the cause of the sensitivity and put a stop to it. Belated descaling of already painful gums can also be done under local anaesthetic, for your comfort.
We believe that descaling procedures, too, need to be followed up and we make sure to explain what needs to be done to make them as pleasant as possible.
GUM TREATMENTS
Dr Sebastian Engelhardt has a particular interest in gum-related issues. Together with the dental hygienist, he will take you through the different periodontal treatments of varying complexity, such as:
Dr Engelhardt can also accept patients referred by other dentists for treatment for advanced periodontitis or to have implants fitted, if required. A treatment report is subsequently provided to the referring practitioner.
For reasons of professional ethics, we do not provide regular follow-up for patients who have been referred to us by other colleagues for other treatments unrelated to the original treatment requested. Thank you for your understanding.
